How to Drive the 2005 Ford GT Faster in Forza Horizon 6
#1
The 2005 Ford GT is already one of the most exciting cars to drive in Forza Horizon 6, but getting the best performance from it takes more than adding horsepower. The car is extremely quick in a straight line, yet its mid-engine layout can become difficult to control if the setup is too aggressive.

In Forza Horizon 6, tuning and driving technique matter much more than simply building the highest PI rating. A properly tuned Ford GT becomes stable, fast, and surprisingly competitive on both highways and technical road circuits.

Start With the Right Performance Upgrades

Before tuning the car, install upgrades that improve grip, balance, and acceleration while keeping the build inside the S1 900 class.

For suspension and handling, Race Suspension and Race Anti-Roll Bars are essential. They make the car feel much more stable during fast direction changes and reduce body movement in corners. Race Weight Reduction is also one of the best upgrades for the Ford GT because lowering the weight improves both acceleration and cornering response.

For drivetrain upgrades, a Race Differential is highly recommended. The stock differential struggles to manage the car’s power when exiting corners. A 6-speed Sport or Race Transmission also helps keep the engine inside its strongest power range.

Players who find Rear-Wheel Drive difficult can swap the car to AWD. The AWD setup is easier to drive and provides much stronger launches, especially in tight road races.

Tire upgrades are extremely important in FH6. Semi-Slick or Track Tires give the Ford GT the grip it needs for high-speed cornering. Increasing rear tire width also helps stabilize the rear end under acceleration. Lightweight wheels are another good choice because they slightly improve responsiveness.

For engine upgrades, focus on balanced power instead of maximum horsepower. Race Intake, Race Exhaust, and Race Pistons provide strong acceleration without making the car uncontrollable.

Recommended S1 Tune Setup

Once the upgrades are installed, the tuning menu is where the Ford GT truly comes alive.

A tire pressure around 28 PSI front and rear gives the car balanced grip and predictable handling. For alignment, slightly negative camber helps the car maintain traction during cornering. Around -1.3 front camber and -0.7 rear camber work very well for road racing.

For anti-roll bars, keeping the front slightly stiffer than the rear helps control body roll without introducing too much understeer. Suspension springs should remain fairly firm because the Ford GT performs best when the chassis stays planted during high-speed transitions.

Ride height should stay relatively low to improve stability without causing the car to bottom out over bumps.

Damping settings are also important. Slightly firmer rebound settings help the car settle quickly after bumps or aggressive steering inputs. This keeps the Ford GT stable during fast sweeping corners.

If you install aero parts, add a little extra rear downforce. The rear of the Ford GT can become nervous at high speed, so additional rear aero improves braking stability and confidence through fast turns.

For gearing, a final drive around 4.33 gives strong acceleration while still allowing excellent highway speed.

On RWD builds, lower acceleration differential settings help reduce wheelspin and sudden oversteer when leaving corners.

Learn How to Use the Car’s Mid-Engine Balance

The Ford GT rewards smooth driving much more than aggressive driving.

One of the biggest advantages of the car is its braking ability. Because of the mid-engine layout, the car stays balanced under heavy braking and can enter corners later than many front-engine cars.

Instead of braking too early, carry speed into the corner and brake smoothly in a straight line before turning in. The car rotates naturally if the weight transfer stays controlled.

Throttle control is even more important. Many players lose time because they apply full throttle too early while still turning. The rear tires can easily break traction, especially on an RWD setup.

The fastest method is to slowly feed in throttle at the apex and wait until the steering wheel is almost straight before using full power. Smooth acceleration is much faster than fighting wheelspin.

Take Advantage of Highway Speed

The 2005 Ford GT is incredibly strong on long roads and downhill sections.

Once the car builds momentum, its top-end acceleration becomes extremely impressive. Early upshifts at very high speed help maintain stability while keeping the engine inside its strongest torque range.

On highways, the Ford GT can comfortably keep pace with many modern hypercars if the driver avoids unnecessary braking and preserves momentum through sweeping corners.

RWD or AWD?

Both setups are effective, but they suit different drivers.

RWD feels lighter, faster, and more rewarding. It is usually the better choice for experienced players who enjoy precise throttle control and realistic handling.

AWD is easier to drive and much safer during launches or tight corner exits. Players who race online frequently or prefer technical circuits may find AWD more consistent.

Neither setup is objectively perfect. The best choice depends on personal driving style.

Community Tunes Are Worth Trying

Players who do not enjoy manual tuning can still make the Ford GT competitive by downloading community-made setups.

Searching for tunes tagged with “S1 Grip,” “S1 Road,” or “Road Meta” usually reveals several excellent builds designed specifically for high-speed road racing.

Many top tuners already have optimized setups for both RWD and AWD versions of the car.

The 2005 Ford GT remains one of the most satisfying cars to drive in Forza Horizon 6 when tuned correctly. Its mix of strong acceleration, sharp handling, and classic supercar character makes it extremely enjoyable on almost every type of road.

The key is balance. Instead of building the highest horsepower possible, focus on grip, stability, and smooth driving inputs. Once mastered, the Ford GT becomes one of the strongest S1-class road cars in the game.
