Bishop Boss in ARC Raiders: How to Beat It Easily
#1
In ARC Raiders, the Bishop is one of the most dangerous ARC bosses you can encounter, especially in late-game raids where positioning and timing matter more than raw firepower. This machine isn’t just tanky—it punishes bad movement with long-range thermal attacks, overhead tracking lasers, and artillery pressure that can quickly wipe an unprepared squad. The key to beating it isn’t brute force. It’s control, cover discipline, and focused weak-point damage.

Understanding the Bishop’s Threat Pattern

The Bishop ARC boss is designed to dominate open terrain. If you fight it in exposed areas like desert flats or wide valleys, you’ll constantly be under pressure from its tracking laser and indirect bombardment. In most encounters, especially around open zones such as Bluegate, survival depends on forcing the fight into structured environments.

The boss has three major threats:

Overhead laser tracking that punishes standing still
High-damage thermal bursts that punish open positioning
Defensive armor plating that reduces most standard weapon damage

Because of this, the fight is less about sustained DPS and more about controlled exposure windows.

Essential Loadout Setup

To deal with the Bishop efficiently, your loadout needs to be built around armor penetration and burst damage.

Heavy Penetration Weapons

Bring weapons capable of punching through reinforced ARC plating. High-impact options like the Hullcracker or Furrow-style heavy weapons are ideal. Standard ballistic weapons will struggle against its armor and waste valuable time during the fight.

Explosives

Grenades are your main damage amplifier once the core is exposed. Light Impact Grenades work reliably, but Wolfpack Grenades are especially effective due to their clustered detonation pattern. If you’re running a crafting-focused build, bring enough materials to resupply mid-raid.

Defensive Gear

A Heavy Shield or similar damage mitigation setup is highly recommended. The Bishop’s laser bursts can overwhelm unprotected players instantly, especially when repositioning between cover points.

Step-by-Step Strategy to Defeat the Bishop

Force the Fight Into Overhead Cover

The most important rule is never fight the Bishop in open ground. Its tracking laser and artillery make exposed positions deadly. Instead, pull it toward areas with strong overhead protection—bunkers, industrial structures, or dense ruins.

In ARC Raiders, terrain control often decides boss fights more than gear does, and the Bishop is a perfect example of that design.

Target the Head to Break Its Shield

Do not waste ammo shooting its legs or side armor early on. Those areas are heavily reinforced and will slow your progress.

Instead, focus all sustained fire on the head unit. After enough high-penetration damage, the Bishop’s defensive shielding begins to fail, exposing a glowing red core. This is your primary damage phase trigger.

Burst the Exposed Core with Explosives

Once the core is visible, switch immediately to explosives. Wolfpack Grenades are especially effective because their clustered explosions can land directly on the exposed center mass.

If you’re using Light Impact Grenades, aim slightly above the core so the blast radius falls into the opening rather than hitting the armor plates. This timing window is short, so coordination matters.

Manage Aggro and Squad Roles

In squad fights, assigning roles makes the encounter much easier:

One player draws the Bishop’s main laser tracking
One or two players maintain consistent head pressure
Remaining teammates flank and remove smaller ARC units

The Bishop will periodically summon additional ARC enemies to disrupt positioning. Ignoring them usually leads to being overwhelmed, so clear them quickly before resuming boss damage.

Secure Loot and Extract Immediately

As the fight progresses, parts of the Bishop’s chassis will break off, dropping valuable mechanical resources. These can be collected during the fight if it’s safe, but don’t overextend for loot.

Once the Bishop is defeated, extract quickly. High-value boss zones often attract third-party raiders and roaming elite ARC units, turning a clean kill into a chaotic survival scenario.

The Bishop in ARC Raiders is not a boss you brute-force. It’s a fight built around discipline—cover management, weak-point targeting, and coordinated burst windows. Once you understand its attack rhythm and stop engaging it in open terrain, the encounter becomes significantly more manageable.

Mastering this fight not only makes farming easier, it also teaches core survival principles that apply to almost every high-tier encounter in ARC Raiders.
